My name is Kristina Brandeus Kirkkopelto. I am currently a second year Masters student at the department of Ceramics and Glass, Konstfack, Stockholm. I graduated with my BFA degree in Ceramic Art from Academy of Arts and Crafts, Gothenburg, 2016. A third of my BFA was done as an exchange student at a Sculpture faculty in New Zealand, which had a profound impact on my ceramic craft.
Before starting my MFA studies, I completed two Artist in Residency programs: in Canada; CeramAir in Vernon, BC and at Ottawa School of Art, ON. I have worked as a studio based artist in China Town, Vancouver and at G-Studion, Gustavsberg.
I use ceramics as a craft and gateway through which conflicting emotions and existential questions can be commented upon, thus bodily and visually experienced.
I am currently working on my MFA project which draws inspiration on Dr. Yair-Dor Zidermans research on death-phobia. A large-scale withering wedding bouquet made out of casted glass and ceramics, unveiling questions about presence and expectations.
