In the Body Carving (2014-2020) series, the body’s actions are printed and carved, recording gestures of rolling, dragging and pushing the body. These simple motions are performed to correlate the imprint of the anatomy and action. The act of carving lifts the body out of wood and onto paper, rendering as a cartography of gestures or even a language of movement.

Jordana Loeb (b. 1987) is an American artist residing and working in Stockholm since 2012. She holds a BFA with a focus in printmaking from Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing arts in New York. Her artistic practice investigates the translation and interpretation of physical motion through printmaking, sculpture and video. Jordana is interested in the relationship between body and material, and how the process stimulates spontaneity, curiosity and realisation in her artistic process.
