Paul Quant Swedish, b. 1959

Overview
Shooting with a Sinar large format polaroid, Quant searches for the right image, mood, and composition, demonstrating his genuine love and respect for the craft itself. Mistakes and lessons from these elaborate processes are often inspiring in his various creative work.

Paul began his career at the State Material Works Laboratory (FMV) in 1977, where he learned directly from old school photographers who worked with glass plates, aerial films from World War II, large-scale enlargers, and everything else related to the darkroom. Five years later, he started shooting for the police technical department - crime scenes and studio photography, as well as laboratory work - a job that required a lot of creativity to develop plausible leads. In 1986, Paul was recruited as a commercial photographer and lab director for Studio FJK, a studio founded and edited by three journalists from Dagens Nyheter. Since 1992, he has focused entirely on commercial, portrait, and fine art photography, studying photography, video, and editing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Konstfack, while also developing his work with Sinar large format polaroid. Searching for the right image, mood, and composition demonstrates his genuine love and respect for the craft itself. Mistakes and lessons from these elaborate processes are often inspiring in his various creative work.
