With a keen interest in visual expression, Gustav Hjelmgren finds inspiration in the works of the early abstract expressionists. Working primarily with a squeegee, Gustav manipulates the newly applied paint, building up layer upon layer, working while the paint is still wet or making a conscious decision to reflect and allow that particular layer to dry before going on. Searching for his own unique expression, Gustav allows not only his instinct and subconscious feelings to guide him but he is also led by the nature of the medium itself and by the tools he has at hand.

These many layers symbolise for him not only the multiple layers of a lifetime but also serve as a symbol for diversity, as the various layers of paint and strokes of colour find harmony on his canvas in unexpected combinations.

Inspiration is also found in his deep and immediate connection with nature—be it a walk in the woods or the power of the open sea. Everything is connected and it is these connections that find their way onto his canvases.

The Italian architect Giorgio Palù shows his art in Stockholm

GIORGIO PALÙ. EARTHSIDE. Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
The Italian architect Giorgio Palù, currently designing a new concert hall for the music school Lilla Akademien in Stockholm, will be presenting his sculptural works in a large exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm–his first such exhibition outside of Italy.

Lilla Akademien is in the midst of a long-term renovation of the premises on Norrtullsgatan in Stockholm. The commission for the creation of a concert hall was awarded to the design team Giorgio Palù, architect, and Yasuhisa Toyota, one of the world’s foremost acoustic engineers. Together they were responsible for the newly opened prize winning auditorium at the Museo del Violino in Cremona, Italy. The Chamber Orchestra of Lilla Akademien will be performing at the inauguration of Giorgio’s exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute on January 17th.

Giorgio Palù, born 1964, has designed for both the public and private sectors, from banks and hotels, restaurants and commercial sites to residential buildings. Two notable examples are the design hotel DelleArti in Cremona and Villa Machiavelli in Florence.

In 2010, Palù, who was already design furnishings for his buildings, began further exploring his own artistic expression. He held his first solo exhibition in 2016 and is now presenting his sculptures and installations for the first time to an international audience. The materials he is working with are the same as he has often used in the role of architect – iron, bronze, concrete, limestone and glass – but here the materials themselves, each with their own characteristics, are in focus.

Curated by Francesco Mutti together with Galleri Duerr Stockholm
and Arte Totale Morandi Tappeti in collaboration with the Italian Embassy.

All artworks are for sale through Galleri Duerr.

Opening January 17, 2018
The exhibition continues January 18 to March 14, 2018.

PLANKET. Sat Aug 26. 2017

PLANKET Stockholm on Lilla Mejtens Gränd celebrates 35 years – a visual feast for the eyes and soul for one day only, with the photographic works of amateur and professional photographers hanging side by side on the red fences of Söder. Last year, over 3,000 visitors could see the works of 140 photographers, among them our very own Lina L. Baker!

This year, the man behind the return of Planket 2016, Christer “Fjellis” Fjellman, is once again a driving force, working together with a group of dedicated photographers to make Planket 2017 an unforgettable experience. Galleri Duerr has the honour of representing his series Slussen – Mon Amour, a beautiful downfall in detail, photographed 2014-2016.

Everything began in 1982 when photographer Neil Goldstein was inspired by outdoor exhibitions in Washington Square Park, New York. Together with Irene Berggren, Lars Hall, Bror Karlsson, Gunnar Smoliansky and Rebecka Tarschys, a tradition of outdoor exhibitions was founded.

Last year, images of well-known photographers Lennart Nilsson, Karolina Henke, Helene Schmitz, Martin Von Krogh, Carl Bengtsson and Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin were shown.

Stop by Planket 2017 and exchange a few words or more with Christer “Fjellis” Fjellman, Paul Quant, Filip Cederholm, Lola Akinmade Åkerström, and Martin Lima de Faria – all represented by Galleri Duerr. You might even meet Sonja Hesslow, whose work we exhibited 2014!

Venue and date / time. Saturday, August 26, kl. 12-19. Lilla Mejtens Gränd in Vitabergsparken, Söder, Stockholm. After-party at Fotografiska.

Higo Ticciati Festicak Omodernt Edition 2017 Confidencen Ulriksdals slottspark Galleri Duerr

Please contact Galleri Duerr for sales, private showings and collaborations

The woman in the portrait is surprised to discover that she is being watched. At first flattered, she wants to impress the viewer but loses herself in the process. She suddenly realizes that she is totally out of sync with her mirrored image and being watched becomes uncomfortable and difficult to relate to.

With visual art as a starting point, Galleri Duerr invites youths and leaders to talk about current issues. Galleri Duerr and the photography gallery Partout Galleri invite you for screenings and conversations with Her Self’s producer/performer Maud Karlsson and director Martin Lima de Faria. Moderator: Lotte Johansson.

Her Self, shown at the Cannes International Film Festival, Art Hearts Fashion New York, Uppsala Konstmuseum 2016 and the Berlin International Film Festival 2017.

Aktion Samtal – Modellen

Alannah Robins A sculpture in liquorice Galleri Duerr Lydmar Stockholm

Välkommen in i samtalen!
