Cornelia Dahlin Swedish, b. 1990
Cornelia Dahlin braids with clay to hear the echo from tradition and trusts this material will tell a new story.
Cornelia Dahlin graduated at Konstfack University (MA CRAFT!) in 2023. During the last years she has been exploring braiding as a sculptural technique in clay. Fascination and wonder for the material, and how human beings relate to it, permeate Dahlin’s work.
Dahlin’s work often represents strength by linking together, but at the same time underline the vulnerability of the material. Dahlin treats the act of braiding as a universal language that been practiced by women throughout history. It is an intimate language based on the closeness of the hand and the material, something she feels has gone missing in our age.
