Anna Selander Swedish, b. 1962
Overview
Anna Selander uses both photography and textiles in her work. For this show, she has appropriated worn, broken fabrics left behind from deceased relatives–curtains that have been hidden away in a cupboard for many years. What stories do they tell, and why were they saved? Anna gives these fabrics new life and meaning by printing the floor plans of the various homes she has lived in as an adult. Her photographs are of people standing in a yoga-like position by a sea, their bodies becoming a kind of architecture. One sign. One now.
