Sunday, September 1, 16.00 — 18.00.
Please join us for a Sunday afternoon concert with renowned cellist Chrichan Larson. Chrichan Larson is active as a cellist and composer. In addition to the cello's romantic repertoire, Larson plays early music from the 16th and 17th centuries as well as contemporary experimental art music. He is a member of several ensembles based in Stockholm, where he resides. Some of these ensembles focus on early music performed on period instruments, while others are dedicated to new music. Larson is frequently engaged as a guest solo cellist with several symphony orchestras in Scandinavia, but his primary work is within chamber music. As a composer, he is rooted in an aesthetic largely influenced by continental traditions. Larson was educated in Stockholm, as well as in Italy, Switzerland, and France. In Paris, he became a member of the Ensemble InterContemporain (EIC). The connection with Pierre Boulez and the EIC has been of great significance for Larson's artistic development, both as a musician and composer. The majority of Larson's work consists of chamber music for mixed ensembles, but his catalog also includes orchestral music, with or without a soloist, works for voice and ensemble, and film music. Upcoming projects include a commissioned work for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, which will premiere at the Stockholm Concert Hall in early 2025.
