ZAWA ZAWA consists of two internationally acclaimed musicians and artists: Lisa Nordström (flute, voice, electronics) / Mika Takehara (vibraphone, percussion). A dynamic meeting between two very expressive and highly individual artistic spheres. Musically, they move seamlessly between composition and improvisation in an organic exploration of acoustic and electronic sonic landscapes.

Lisa Nordström is a multifaceted composer, producer, and artist who moves seamlessly between acoustic and electronic music. She has toured worldwide and was, for many years, part of the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Midaircondo. For the music in the film Children of the Enemy, she was awarded a Guldbagge in 2022 for Best Original Score. Lisa is currently involved in George Orwell's play 1984 on the main stage of the state theater.

Mika Takehara is a percussion soloist and leads various projects involving dance, poetry, film music, visual art, and composition. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Mika plays in the electronic percussion duo ZAWAZAWA with Lisa Nordström, KLAKIMARA with violinist Klara Hellgren, and Maestro Seiji Ozawa’s Saito Kinen Orchestra in Japan. She is also part of the free improvisation experimental group Konpeito with bandoneon musician Mikael Augustsson. She is a K&K Sound Future Artist, sponsored by SABIAN Ltd Canada and Pearl Drum Japan. Her recordings can be found on BIS, Sony Music, Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, and ajabu! records. Currently, Mika is working on music for a German-Japanese documentary film and a new solo album set to be released in 2024.

With the generous support of the Swedish Arts Council, this concert marks the third in a distinctive series of chamber music performances at Galleri Duerr. Curated by Mika Takehara in collaboration with professional musicians, each performance is crafted to foster a dynamic dialogue between music and visual art, blending diverse artistic expressions within the gallery’s intimate setting.
