Motivation
Siiri Jüris' painting has a color palette that seems to draw nourishment from post-internet culture, social media, video games, digital image processing, and street art murals. They shine like aquariums and coral reefs, while at the same time, there is a present darkness in all this colorful splendor. She herself refers to drawing content from personal experiences and Estonian folklore. Consequently, there is a personal narrative, as well as a timeless connection, which she updates to a contemporary visual language through one of art's most traditional mediums - oil painting.
