Sehnsucht is a German word which is best translated as 'longing for the homeland'. It finds its counterpart in the Welsh hiraeth or in the saudade of Portuguese fados.
In these paper cuts, I have traced a journey through the Sitka spruce plantations - imposed upon and damaging to the Connemara landscape - to the original native oak forest of Irland.
